Exercise 3

1   Pilot the schedule in groups of three
interviewer, interviewee and observer. Swap around. Discuss potentials and problems:
  • interviewer bias,
  • leading questions, hinting at required answer,
  • interviewee sympathy (telling interviewers what they want to hear, putting a good face on things),
  • coping with embarrassment or surprises,
  • checking on sincerity.

2.   Get feedback on any issues --eg:
  • did people understand the questions?
  •  does the sequence of questions have an effect?
  • are prompts necessary?

3.  Consider training needs
