Dr Robert Guyver's Pages



Robert Guyver has taught in primary schools in West Sussex, Hertfordshire and Devon (UK) between 1969 and 1990. He was an Advisory Teacher for primary history in Essex from 1990 to 1992. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at the College of St Mark and St John in Plymouth.
He was a member of the History Working Group 1989--1990, and was Treasurer of the History Teacher Education Network (HTEN formerly SCHTE) until 2004.

Robert gained his PhD in December 2003 and has, with his supervisor, Dr Jon Nichol of the University of Exeter, written up his PhD findings as a journal article for the International Journal of Historical Learning, Teaching and Research. The title of the article is 'From Novice to Effective Teacher: A Study of Postgraduate Training and History Pedagaogy'. It can be found online here.
